Special Note: I skipped posting day 2 because it was too personal. Something I’m learning through this writing challenge is that some writings are for the author only. So, here is Day 3 in its replacement. Enjoy.

Topic: My day in great detail.

This is a funny one cause Mondays tend to be a “rinse and repeat” kind of day. Even though it’s my day off, I have to make sure my schedule is flawless and followed exactly.

I start out the morning with some time with MJ, laying in bed, enjoying her warmth and company until the cruelness of the alarms invade the peaceful silence and serenity of the morning. This leads to the awaking of children and the invasion of our peace. After a quick shower it’s off to the races as I become “super Uber driver”, transporting my children to various locations. I try to take advantage of the time I have in the car by catching up on emails, reading articles to better our podcast, or writing pieces like this so my time is not waisted. But that’s not always the case. Sometimes, to be completely honest, I find myself trolling social media, trapped in the meaningless found within its digital pages.

After the kids are safely at their location, I enjoy the rest of my day by trying to find something to bring rest. Sometimes this means going back to sleep, watching a movie, even video games. But more times than not I find my day off filled with chasing errands like the grocery store, the dealership, or the clothing store. I dread going to big box stores like Walmart primarily because my greatest desire is to be away from people.

I would love to have more time to create, whether physical as in my woodworking, or digitally as in my podcasting. I’d love to be able to utilize my time better to do these things, especially on my day off.

In the afternoon I return to my position as “super Uber driver”. I pick my children up from school, their afternoon activities, and even work.

Then preparation for the evening meal begins. It usually starts with a conversation with my wife, “what shall we have for dinner, love?” Of course I know the answer, “anything you are willing to make hunny.” To which my creativity begins to flow, creating masterpieces out of leftovers.

After the meal, I again assume the duties of driver and transport my offspring to their college classes and boy scouts. This time I choose to use the last 90 minutes of my running for my own purpose. Sometimes I sit in silence and just think. Sometimes I go to Walmart and people watch and prepare for the coming work week. Whatever I choose it is my time and I covet it. After my 90 minutes chimes done, I pick up my children one last time, bring them home, and prepare for a brief slumber in my warm comfortable bed in the sanctuary my beloved has crafted for us. The sit in darkness illuminated by the television until our eyes are too heavy to remain open. It is there I end the day as I began, in the comfort and loving embrace of my beloved, my best friend, and fellow life adventurer. I love my life.
